We found this place while looking to get aside from heat and crowds of Melaka. It proved to be a excellent find. Friendly welcome, great spot plus some really fascinating memorabilia round the cafe. We just had the typical ice Coffee productswhich were excellent but the proprietors were passionate and proficient in coffee. Lots available for the connoisseur.

Our guide brought us all to the cafe for a ‘various’ experience to use the specialty espresso. Each glass of the drop specialized coffee cost MYR 35 - instead pricey. The cafe will be owned by way of a young few. The husband is enthusiastic about his craft andthe Spouse bakes good scones. On the entranceway in to the cafe... they currently clearly condition it’s a location for serious espresso drinkers who appreciates specialized brew. Overall... interesting expertise but a fairly pricey one.

Mods Cafe could've been an excellent experience had this not been for the abrasiveness and hostility of proprietors to non-coffee drinkers as well as just average espresso drinkers. First, the nice stuff. As an avid fan plus practitioner of guide brews, I was extremely impressed bythe setup. Water is boiled making use of bincho-tan (Japanese light charcoal) which heats a vintage tea kettle, instead of standard gas or electric powered kettles. The dog owner - clearly enthusiastic and zealous about his craft - explains if you ask me that temperature from the sizzling coals adjustments the molecules of drinking water (questionable science but nonetheless looks good) so that makes the espresso tastes better. He furthermore takes the excess phase of cooling the espresso down in a decanter in order that it unlocks the wealthy flavours of the espresso before it really is served. The Bali Kintamani coffee beans definitely took the cake because the best tasting coffee (we ordered 4 different coffee beans) I've had in quite a while. Now, here's the poor bits. Its a very important factor to be enthusiastic about craft but it's another to end up being rude. I noticed among the employees rolling her eyes each time somebody blurted out what flavour information these were tasting - as though to mock having less refined tastebuds among mortal espresso drinkers. It also didn't run into as sincere. The moment we entered, they simply stared at us. No smiles. No welcome. It had been only once we ordered four beverages (which amounted to a whooping $154rm) that there is some friendly conversation going on. If Mods Cafe really wants to get the business lead as a purveyor of specialized coffees in Malacca, it can well on the merchandise. But fails terribly difficult on another cardinal guidelines of FnB, which are usually hospitality and customer support. They can at the very least pretend to like having us there instead of show contempt for all those that are not as bourgeoisie making use of their coffee. Even as a large fan of these coffee, I cannot recommend a location that treats patrons such as crap.
