We were here for lunch and we ordered different sets to try - Iga & Oribe. The Oribe is RM100 more for dinner. Both sets were beautifully presented and no fault except for the steam fish heads - which were full of scales. Chef replaced it for us though.

First of all, this place is expensive. However, it is so much so because the quality of the food is superb! When each dish was served, my mind couldn't comprehend the freshness of the food. There was so much taste that I have never thought possible. One of the memorable sushi was something that could only be served because of the season. This really made me wonder how the experience will differ when the seasons change. The other memorable dish was the oysters. It was so fresh to the extent that I just had to stop all of my thoughts, close my eyes and appreciate what I am tasting. It was pure pleasure. Food that does that for a person, changes a person.

I am the type that doesn't mind being served a plate of plain fried rice at the roadside while being charged a premium price as long as it is worth it.My experience in Oribe is pleasant. We requested omakase, the pace which the food was served to us allows us more than enough time to savor it. The chef has a unique sense of humor and the chef is very attentive towards everyone, doing his very best to provide us hospitality. The food... It is not just fresh, the texture and taste on its own is already outstanding. The condiment truly enhance the flavor of the food without changing how its supposed to taste.I wouldn't describe how tasty it is, everyone has different standards and requirement. For me, Oribe is by far one of the restaurant that appreciates and understands food, a restaurant that look out for the customer. The staff service I must admit, can further improve, but it didn't affect the overall experience. If you are looking for big portion and stuffing meal, expensive ingredients regardless of how it taste, quantity, staffs that are like personal assistants, then Oribe is not the suitable place for dining.

We ordered the Oribe set and my most favourite dish would’ve to be the grilled swordfish served w grated daikon, battered puffer fish, tuna belly sashimi and seared flounder sushi (both just melted into my mouth). Also, you know you’re being served quality ingredients when everything down to their house pickles; their pickled ginger, wasabi greens and Japanese mountain yam were so yummy! Amongst other things were the Japanese grouper, barracuda, mackerel and yellow fin sashimi, crab chawanmushi, delicate onigiri with uni and diced tuna, seared Hokkaido scallop and tamago. Thanks Chef Kawasaki for the great sushi bar experience, hospitality and your great sense of humour!!
