Have heard good stuff from a large amount of folks, including here upon TA. However, found the laundry to be strike and miss. The Tau Eu Bak (soy sauce based pork dish), Jiu Hoo Char, fish Berlanda and Inche Kabin are great Vs other nyonya restaurantsin Penang. Nevertheless, the Curry Kapitan and Choon Pheah are usually disappointing. Curry Kapitan wasn't fragrant and does not have sufficient of a kick to it while Choon Pheah had been a lot more of a fried poh piah. Had the aforementioned two delivered since it must have been made, I'd have trained with four stars. The service staff, while friendly, weren't sufficiently knowledgeable ( as you'll expect from the restaurant that's quite pricey) concerning the dishes. That could have managed to get five stars. Hence the three superstar rating.

Recommended by owner associated with the lodge where all of us were staying. Didn't disappoint. Food were high quality at an acceptable, affordable cost We ordered the tiny portions which are best for 3 or even 4 persons with typical appetite.

The food as of this restaurant was spectacular. It was really occupied the Sunday evening that people went and we'd to hold back for a table, nonetheless it was really worth it.

A favorite dining restaurant on the list of locals. Dishes are great and prices are inexpensive. Very homely place. May visit again.

We were at Straits Quay, Penang scouting for something to fill up our stomach whenever we bumped into this eating place. The meals is pretty delicious, and the Jiu Hu Char (nice turnip 沙葛) was great. We also purchased rendang ayam and petai sambal that is traditionallyNyonya foods synonymous with spicy flavor. The restaurant is thoroughly clean, serving is quick and the waiters are usually nice.

Very flavourful Nyonya meals which has distinct taste within each various dish so good it is possible to it have each dish only with just whitened rice! Since we have been not locals and desire to try as much, we ordered many. Best on the checklist is PetaiPrawns (you’d adore this if you want petai the neighborhood stinky coffee beans), Acar Hu fried seafood in tamarinds and vinegar, Kapitan Chicken. Only 1 dish has been below expectation as my Dad’s one is the better on earth - conserve the Ju Hu Char for another place

Many people who such as "Chinese and/or Malausian dishes" may also enjoy "Nyonya cuisine"-- that is a consequence of intermarriage between Chinese and Malaya through the start of Chinese settlement within Malaysia (& other SE Parts of asia). This cuisine is rolling out on the yearsas Penang emerged as a location for "serious foodies". All of the welll ptrepared dishes may also interest vegetarians. We have there been with a large band of friends (about 50 folks), and the services was excellent as was the meals. The positioning at Straits Quay (in Tanjong tokong) increases the ambience. A trip will end up being memorable. I hope that this Evaluation has been helpful.

It has to be my father’s favorite restaurant. He usually will go there with my mother. When he provides treat to his close friends, this place can be his choice. His favorite dish - poultry curry kapitan. My mom’s preferred dish - hong bak. Today,we ordered many dishes: chicken curry kapitan, hong bak, inche kebin (nyonya fried chicken), asam prawns, jiu hoo char (stewed mexican turnip with shreds of rehydrated dried squid), spring rolls, otak-otak. And two single-assist soups: kua lala (mint soup), as well tor thng (pig abdomen pepper soup). For those with area in the tummy, we also ordered pengat and green bean desserts.
