Fresh and delicious, and the waiters are usually friendly. The area is clean and properly decorated.

Orders (foods easily cooked such as for example cawanmushi, udon and poultry katsu don) haven't arrived after half an hour though the restaurant has been rather empty. Examined with the waitresses and meals didn't arrive after waiting around another 15 minutes. Has been gutted when asked by waitress ifwe would like to eliminate all our orders after looking forward to the 45 mins and we decided this is enough. Huge disappointment and lowly recommended.

The only real really ok western restaurant in Miri. Support with a smile! Simply make sure you can find no bugs in your soy sauce!!!

Having lived within Japan, I'd say that the brand new Nikko is alright by the specifications you obtain outside of Japan however, not as great as genuine. Having said that, this is a lot better than nearly all Japanese restaurants you discover in theUS and European countries for instance and is really a decent selection in Miri. We tried a variety of meals including sushi, sashimi and tempura. The sushi and sashimi had been average at greatest (the rice in the sushi had not been excellent which spoiled it). The mixed tempura was very good - a huge part of shrimp, seafood and veggies in a reasonably light batter that was just a little oily. We also acquired agedashidofu and wakeme salad that have been both good. They will have asahi beer that was chilled however, not ice cold. The menu is massive - an extensive selection of Japanese dishes that goes beyond the most common sushi, tempura and teppanyaki. We are going back to use some other meals for certain. The menu can be pretty genuine - none of the spicy dragon sushi with lotion cheese and mayonnaise sauces (!) you discover in plenty of overseas Japanese restaurants. The atmosphere is rather authentic aswell. It felt like getting in a family group run cafe in Japan rather than extravagant joint. There are several private tatami areas for groups plus some booths for young couples. We sat in a booth initially. It was a little claustrophobic and the wall space could perform with a brand new coat of paint. Among the groupings in the private space which was close to us was quite noisy and there is a lot of tobacco smoke appearing out of their area which bothered us therefore we shifted to the primary restaurant area that was a lot nicer. The food came very quickly and the service was good. I'll definitely be heading back again.

The fish wasn't fresh and the menus wasn't really clear nor visual. Donya Japanese & Western Cuisine Miri, which includes openend final March, is way better!! :-)
