Proceeded to go there for lunch time. Expected a group on weekend rather there was just a few tables (3) occupied. Food was great but nothing at all to shout about. Several items they didn't possess. Requested something vegetarian but had not been possible! Staff are helpful. Will dsicover if dinneris exactly the same. For this type of famous restaurant the meals and sevice is common!!!

Although food was very average, I'd definitely recommend at the very least a coffee as of this place. Home furniture and decor are nicely preserved and provides you a feeling of what it really is like to have resided in this era!

The restaurant was clean and had the old time feel. They simply opened that day following a long break therefore breakfast was not excellent. Felt the ham had been cold although service was great and friendly.

Emerged here for breakfast, i had espresso and toast. Both are usually good, in small part. I saw banana results in wrapped nasi lemak furthermore but didnt check it out, looked good though. It is located close to Komtar, and Tune resort where we stayed before. Nice interiorwith classic stuffs inside, older radio, sewing device etc. Want to go to the restaurant nearby, maybe on my following visit to G-town

Decoration brings you back again to the original old Hainanese restaurant era and brings back again good memories BUT that is all there is because of this restaurant. Their signature poultry pie had been mediocre at greatest and their Nasi Lemak has been lousy. This is actually the firsttime I've not finished a bowl of Nasi Lemak in Penang. We'd to walk to Kek Seng restaurant for another round following the meal

Contrary to popular belief, but evidently, Loke Thye Kee, or even love boat since it was affectionately identified, was after the choice venue associated with family gathering. To consume here, I was informed is that you will be in the current presence of greatness, while the proof mysenses informs me that I'm in the current presence of, at greatest, okayness. Let’s encounter it: instances have changed drastically. Nowadays, it’s so sub “regular”. Soooo over ranked it’s unbelievable. Individuals who work in Loke Thye Kee were warm and gracious however the food was another story. The hainanese established - kaya & butter toast, gentle boiled eggs and kopi has been very common. The spread had been woefully lacking richness and savouriness. The nasi lemak and poultry curry was as thrilling as resort buffet fare. For several its recent glories, the eating place is terribly, terribly unfortunate. Is Loke Thye Kee worthy of the time and cash? In and of itself, no. This is actually the true truth when i say it since it is…

We tried this cafe, and boy was it a blunder. The meals came suspiciously quickly also it was bad. I had some type of chicken curry also it had been horrible I couldn't surface finish it. It didn't taste fresh, it had been swimming in essential oil andthe rice has been cold. My close friends carbonara tasted like "tinned pasta". To create things worse the complete meal had been grossly overpriced. The most severe meal I've experienced in an extended, long time.

Had dinner yesterday evening and the meals is normal Hainanese foods. Had the Poultry Chop and Hainannese Noodles. Tastes is indeed so and costly. Ice kacang is poor.

It is a review for the restaurant only - we've not yet gone to the restaurant. After 6 or 7 visits its time for an assessment. My partner had various meals here whereas I usually trapped to the Char Kway Teow. I considerit the very best around. It's perfectly prepared, not really too sticky great mixture of noodles and beansprouts, succulent sizable prawns and the ideal quantity of spice and gravy. I've tried probably 30-40 Char Kway Teows in Penang but that is really my in history favorite. The service is pleasant with a smile and at 16 RM its a little more than at the hawker stalls nonetheless it is really a bigger portion has 4-5 fine size prawns and it's really an extremely pleasant heritage style air conditioned environment. Definitely well worth the money! Oh, yet another thing - my companion was extremely pleased with her Nasi Lemak last week.

What do After all by whole package? Because of this small eatery, they pack a punch with regards to character. We dropped by instead late on the final evening of our stay static in Penang, if they were actually prepared to close. Rather than politely turningus apart, they happily sat us down and the chef described he only had good enough mise en location for just two 2 plates of char kuay teow and a bowl of fried popiah (with a ngorhiang-style filling) : we were 3 adults with 1 kid and that appropriate us just fine. Afterwards, the meals was served piping popular - the char kuay teow has been excellent, with a generous part of prawns and the popiah had been tasty and crispy, plump with filling. But food aside, it is the people that really get this to place so exclusive : the chef, the wait around staff not to mention Patric and Shannen. Shannen also performed the ukelele and everyone sang along to 'Your Are usually My Sunshine' with this 3.5 year old - that basically made his day - also it ended-up being among the highlights of our visit to Penang. So if you're buying cosy, attractive little location for a simple food in Georgetown, the cafe at Loke Thye Kee is a good choice which boasts the complete package : ambience, meals, people and personality.
