Visited this place regarding ice kacang along with durian ice cream. It's very good. Just skip the rest of the dishes. This place was previously good for other styles of foods but all the great cooks have since left

When within Penang, its food, foods and more meals ... anytime of your day. Kek Seng Cafe is really a long-time old style restaurant situated along Penang Street. It's been around for a lot more than 40 many years. You can still discover the previous 50's stylehigh back again benches by the medial side of the store but it will get pretty narrow (i assume people of days past were much smaller sized in proportions !!) This place usually attracts the lunch crowd along with the after lunch group (those searching for / itching for a bite!) Flanking it's the major tenant - the poultry rice stall. It shifted there a couple of years back, earlier located more up Penang Street. It really is run by the initial chef, who will become retiring 29 Dec 2018 after a lot more than 35 yrs available. The stall will undoubtedly be taken over by way of a relative after he retires, therefore one can nevertheless savour the Thai-styled roasted poultry, with a particular concoction of chilli sauce. Also available may be the regular steamed poultry, and roasted pork meats. Next up may be the char kuay teow (fried kuay teow), and also the lor bak. To best everything, down it with the well-known durian ice-lotion ice kacang. We walked apart definitely sensation satisfied and contented.

Emerged here for lunch plus they have a great deal of meals to choose. There's fried Kueh Teow, Hokkien mee, lobak, popiah, poultry rice, Kuey Teow soup. Also, they are well-known for their durian ice lotion. It’s excellent. If u arrived at Penang,I would suggest that you have a look at this place. This restaurant is actually old since 1906.

Good hawker food on a very reasonable cost. We liked the popiah, prawn mee and char koay teow. The Assam laksa could possibly be much better. We saw many individuals ordering the poultry rice but we had been too full to use this.

Kek Seng Cafe has been around operation for almost a hundred years and has been the best cafe since i have was the teenager. It was well-known for ice kacang, (combine shaved ice), the initial cafe helping ice kacang with a wide selection of toppings. There arealso additional famous Penang Hawker foods marketed inside this cafe such as for example Char Koay Teow, Poh Piah, Loh Bak and Hokkien Mee. That is my must go to cafe whenever I'm in Penang Island.

A classic old period cafe in George City. Among the oldest & most loved of the numerous cafe coffee stores that dot round the old section of town. There's a lot to love aboutthe place, from the friendly girls functioning their stalls to the quaintold wodden booths lining one wall it is a gem of a location. Selling all the regular Malaysian fare, we proceeded to go with a plate of Hokkien Mee, some char keow teow plus shared a pretty great durian ice kacang. Everything good, everything tasy and everything affordability, what's never to like.

This is among Penang's oldest cafes and getting meals here just brings back a feeling of nostalgia that you will not be capable of geting in the newer Penang kopitiams. We purchased the Laksa and the Poultry Rice on a recently available click here -the latter being truly a dish that I am having since i have was a boy of seven. I'm glad to state that the poultry rice continues to be of the same high quality and flavor, with a particular fragrance that you can't reach other chicken rice locations somewhere else in the island. I came across the Laksa a little lacking in conditions of the flavour, a tad as well muted for my liking. A very important factor though - come early. Most of the meals finishes as soon as you reach here after 2pm.

Looking for a spot to possess ais kacang (ABC) which coffee shop's name arises in my own search. The ABC will be nothing at all to shout about, also it arrives with a selection of your flavoured ice-lotion - we'd the durian flavoured the one that isok. Location of the store is quite from the place , nor discover the shop environment pleasing. I'd choose Swatow Lane Ais Kacang at Jalan Burma with regards to taste and also range to quench my thirst (for individuals who isn't ga ga over Chendol).

Still looks exactly the same. And the iconic ice kacang with tricolor jelly and durian ice lotion still tastes exactly the same. Though not really the reference meals, the poh piah and assam laksa continues to be great. And the back-to-back chair remain there too.

Discovered this simple, local restaurant. The place appears like it is not renovated for ages, exhausted walls with aged posters. Aged furnitures, with chipped corners and older spots. Felt like stepping back to Penang of the outdated nostalgic days. Many foodstalls in the store, very little selections, however they are look basically tasty. Tried the char kuey tiaw that was really good, the ideal degree of heat that results in hook tinge of burnt flavor / odor. The durian ice-cream really was, really nostalgic. The Penang government should showcase coffee-shops such as this and street stalls for Unesco Heritage recognition. The meals they serve are mainly much like Singapore street food, however the taste is effortlessly many notches above Singapore. And the eating experience in these areas are authentic (albeit might not be as comfy), you will not get them elsewhere.
